Weight Distribution Recommendation for Trailer with 750 to 950 lbs Tongue Weight

Question:

So even though I have a 2010 Suburban 4x4 1500 3.42 w/brake controller with upgraded rear springs on it plus it has rear load leveling air shocks, I should probably still go with a WD package with sway control... I tow a 10k car hauler, no trouble at all without a WD system. I am, however, looking at getting a travel trailer and it is a 28 or 33 foot actual length trailer 695 lb TW empty. 1 Is it actually just a recommendation to get a second friction sway control kit for a trailer over 26 feet or is it important and maybe a legal requirement in some states? 2 After loading the trailer, the TTW should always be between 750 and 950 lbs so the 49570 should be the correct weight rating, right? 3 For backing the trailer into a spot, is simply relieving pressure on the sway controls okay or does it actually have to be removed? Thanks!

Sounds like you've been doing your homework!

Friction sway control is not a requirement by any means. Some vehicles don't need it all while others do. For some setups just using a weight distribution system and having the trailer properly loaded is enough to not have any trailer sway.

If your loaded tongue weight is between 750 lbs and 950 lbs the # 49570 would be great as it has a range of 700 to 1,200 lbs. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286. To add a friction sway control bar you would use # 83660
