How To Charge Vehicle Battery While being Flat Towed

Question:

Hi, I was wondering how do you keep the towed vehicles battery charged while being towed and the brake buddy using power??

Your best option would be to run a wire from the 12 volt power circuit of your tow vehicle 7-way to the vehicle battery so that it has a maintenance charge on while being towed. That is what we do here when we install supplemental braking systems.

The setup will depend largely on what trailer connector you have at the rear of your tow vehicle. You would want to use 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot.

We don't carry the Brake Buddy products so I had to look up the instructions. They actually have 3 different models in their current line up. The Stealth unit needs to connect to the battery. The Vantage and the Classic plug into a 12 volt outlet (cigarette lighter).
