Will Trailer Tire Size 215/75/14 Fit in Place of 205/75/14 Trailer Tire with 3 Inch Fender Clearance
Question:
I currently have 205/75/14 bias tires on my tandem axel boat trailer. The trailer and boat fully loaded weigh about 6000 pounds. I would like to install 215/75/14 radial tires but iI am not sure if there is enough clearance under the fenders. There is a little less than 3 inch clearance from the top of the tires to the fenders now. How would I know if the 215s would work? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The 215/75/14 radial tires will be .4 inch taller than the tires you currently have on your trailer so you should have more than 2 inches of clearance. I have included a link to a FAQ article which explains how to determine tire and wheel diameter for you to check out.
