Parts Needed to Install Tekonsha POD Brake Controller on a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
Can I order the POD break controller by Tekonsha with a plug and play harness for my 2010 GMC Sierra 1500? Or will the adapter harness have to be wired into the wiring harness under the dash? What wiring harness would I need for the Tekonsha POD break controller?

On 2007 (new body style) through 2013 GM trucks did not have a brake controller port. Instead GM provided a tow package wire bundle under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag.
All you will have to do is connect the brake controller wires to the tow package wires as follows:
Tow Package red to brake controller black for 12 volt power
Tow Package dark blue to brake controller blue for output to trailer brakes
Tow Package light blue or orange to controller red for input from the brake switch
Tow Package white to controller white for ground
On the light blue or orange wire you can test each wire with a circuit tester such as # 3808. You need the one that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed and not the one that also shows power if the head lights are on. For a harness you can use # 20127.
There may also be some connections you will need to make under the hood. I have included a link to a help article that covers everything. I have also included a link to a video showing a brake controller installation on a similar truck that should help.
