Troubleshooting Uneven Wear On Trailer Tires, Outside of Half the Tire

Question:

Hello, i have a tent-trailer and my passanger side trailer tire has a weird uneven wearthe wear is on the outside but only on 50 of the tire. To explain, if my tire has 360d round, the wear is only present on about 180d of it. I will try to send picture. Any ideals what is causing this and how i can fix it Two pictures, same tire. One picture aas snapped by the front of trailer and the otherby the back of trailer. Thanks for your help.

That is a pretty bizarre trailer wear pattern that you have if it is only wearing on the outside of half of the tire. You will need to remove the hub to closely inspect the bearing, spindle, brake pads, etc...basically everything. I would be willing to bet that if someone was following behind your trailer on the highway this wheel would wobble quite a bit.

The problem almost has to be related to the hub though.

You might take the trailer to an alignment shop that can work on trailer to see if the problem is somewhere in the suspension as well. You might first look for worn suspension components.
