Can Rear Hatch on a 2015 Nissan Rogue SV be Opened with a Trunk Mount Bike Carrier Installed
Question:
I dont have a hitch option on my rogue, so opted for the Thule a few days ago. But the trunk cant take the weight of the rack itself. Even with no bike mounted I can open the truck but it wont stay open. Is there a better bike rack option? Or will I always run into this ?

You will not want to open the rear hatch or trunk on any vehicle, including your 2015 Nissan Rogue, with a trunk mount bike carrier installed. Doing so can cause damage to the vehicle and the hatch or trunk to fall down unexpectedly. It will also affect how the bike carrier secures to the back of the vehicle and can result in a loss of the bike carrier and bikes.
If you want to be able to open the rear hatch with bikes loaded on a carrier you would have to install a trailer hitch on the vehicle such as # 75902. I have linked a video showing how it installs.
Then you can use a carrier such as the Yakima FullSwing, # Y02465, which swings out and to the side, with or without the bikes loaded, allowing you to open the rear hatch. I have linked a video review of this bike carrier for you.
