Suspension Enhancement and Weight Distribution with Sway Control for a 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab
Question:
HELPER SPRINGS: I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. I pull a 2500 # pop up. Yesterday I noticed a sway a couple of times that cleared by using the manual brake control feature. I can unload the front storage box somewhat to reduce tongue weight. My question Will helper springs help by keeping my truck level?

Adding springs, like the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, # TDDR05, will help to keep your truck level. This system will work on both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive models of the 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. I have included a link to the installation details below.
For your trailer sway problem, I recommend adding a weight distribution system with built-in sway control. This will also help to level your truck. I recommend the Reese Round Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, # 66086. This weight distribution system comes with pro-active, dual-cam sway control that stops trailer sway before it starts. I have included a link to the installation details below.
The best prevention against trailer sway is a properly loaded trailer. The trailer tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of the trailer weight, loaded and ready to tow. A tongue weight that is too low is one potential cause of trailer sway. Always make sure that the gross trailer weight does not exceed the manufacturer recommended capacities for your truck by checking the owners manual.
