Is Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller on 2015 Nissan Frontier Supposed to Have Power w/ Vehicle Off
Question:
I just installed a Prodigy P2 with wiring harness in my 2015 Nissan Frontier. The P2 immediately came on although the ignition was not turned on. Key was not even in the ignition. Is this normal for the Prodigy to have constant power?? Thank you

It is indeed normal. After about 10 or 15 minutes of inactivity, the controller will go into a sleep mode where there is almost no battery draw. In order to run down the battery to the point where it would cause problems, the vehicle would have to sit for several months.
The controller is directly connected to the battery as a safety measure. It's very important that the controller isn't inadvertently turned off-if it were turned off or unplugged and you forgot to plug it back in, it could lead to a dangerous situation.
I've linked you to some FAQ articles about brake controllers and the instructions for the P2, in case you need them.
