Can Trailer Tires Be Inflated Past Their Max PSI Rating

Question:

I have a boat trailer and I am close to capacity as far as weight so it appears to me that the tires look a little flat even when filled to max psi 50 I was thinking of 1 filling it past 50 if thats a good idea 2 searching for a higher psi alternative if there is one 3 getting a bigger tire if there is one comparable? Are any of these options available to help with the situation? The tires I have on now are Goodyear marathon st1175/80R13 C BSL. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Expert Reply:

For trailer tires you want to inflate them to their max psi when cold. You wouldn't want to over inflate them as that could cause failure.

If you are close to being over capacity you might consider a higher rated tire. The part # AM31985 is the same size as what you have and has a capacity of 1,660 lbs at 65 psi.

I attached a review video and a help article on trailer tires for you to check out as well.
