Trailer Hitch to Carrier Regular Bikes and Dirt Bike on a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan

Question:

I am looking at buying a hitch Reciever for my 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan. I will be using it for a bike rack for bicycles. And I will also be using it to haul my dirtbike around as well. I want something that will be able to acomodate the motorcycle and rack without breaking the hitch or car. I would have to guess that the motorcycle and rack that it is mounted on is about 250-300 pounds.

Since you want to carry a dirt bike and carrier as well as regular bikes I recommend a Class III trailer hitch for your 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan, # e98906. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. Consult the Tiguan owner's manual to determine its tongue weight capacity and go by the lower rating.

As long as the combined weight of the dirt bike and your carrier does not exceed the lower tongue weight capacity rating then you will be good to go. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of this trailer hitch for you.
