It is a good idea to use Rightline Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad # RL100650 with any rooftop cargo bag. The pad both helps hold the bag in place and also protects your roof's painted surface.
We do always suggest keeping both the roof top and the bottom of a cargo bag very clean and free of dirt and grit. Over time any trapped dirt can act like an abrasive - sort of like sandpaper - and could dull the vehicle's paint.
