Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk 4WD
Question:
I was just wondering what the ground clearance was after this was installed on my new 2015 Jeep Renegade. The dealer tried to inform me that I should get the one from Mopar because it goes through the bumper and there wouldnt be an issue with ground clearance if I were to go off roading on trails. But I would be spending almost 1,000.00 with them because I would have to get a whole new bumper for it. This one would go below the bumper, so I was just wondering if you think it would be ok and if you would know what ground clearance Id have after installed? I believe right now from the bottom of the bumper down to the ground its around 12 to 13. THank you

Once installed the receiver for trailer hitch # 76021 will be directly below the rear fascia, see picture. If you measure from the ground to the bottom of the fascia and then subtract 2-1/2 inches, that is the approximate location the bottom of the receiver will be.
If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And for trailer wiring you can use # 118651 to add a 4-Way flat connector.
