Trailer Lights Not Working When Connected to a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am
Question:
had my converter box wired and when i test it at the 4 wire out put end everything works finebut,when i hook the trailer up the trailer lights dont worki hook the trailer up to my pick up and they work fine so i know its not the trailer.can you tell me the color wires im supose to be hooking the brown,yellow,red,green wires to on my 2002 pontiac grand am with a 4cyl-auto tranny

the issue that you are having could be the result of a bad ground connection that the wiring harness for the 2002 Pontiac Grand Am cannot overcome, but the one on the truck can.
Since vehicle manufacturers can use any wire color, they want for any function I cannot tell you which wire colors were used on your specific model. So, what we will have to do is test the wiring using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993.
Once you have determined the wire functions you can make the connections with the wiring harness. On the harness # C56175 white is ground and must be connected to a clean, bare metal surface. Red is for brake lights, yellow for left turn signal, and brown for running lights. Green goes to the right side of the vehicle for the right turn signal.
