Best Weight Distribution with Sway Control for 2015 Dodge Durango.

Question:

I have a 2008 Aerolite 30foot trailer. It has a 6000lb GVW and 500lb TW. My 2015 Dodge Durango has a 6500lb GVRW. There isnt much cargo room in the back of the Durango but we have two kids that sit in the third row seat which I believe will affect which hitch we purchase. I need help as to which weight distribution hitch I should purchase. Please let me know if you need more information.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. If your third row seat is behind the rear axle then the weight of your kids should be counted as tongue weight. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

What you will want to do is check out the link I attached that has all of the systems we carry. Select your tongue weight from the filters on the page and all of the correct systems will be listed.

If you are looking for the best WD system with sway control the Strait Line systems like the # RP66083 would be your best option. They have the only sway control that works to prevent sway before it starts.

This system has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs so it has a pretty good chance of being the right system for you to use.
