Will a Full 48 Inch Long Box Fit in the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier # 6502
Question:
Can a full 48 long box fit in the 20X48 hitch mount carrier?
asked by: Jack
Expert Reply:
Yes, the inside dimensions of the Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, item # 6502, are 20 inches by 48 inches so as long as the box is not over 48 inches it will fit.
If you feel that these dimensions are a bit tight, you might consider the folding Cargo Carrier for 2 inch Trailer Hitches, etrailer item # e98874, which is 24 inches by 60 inches inside dimensions.
One thing to keep in mind when selecting a folding cargo carrier is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on your vehicle to the farthest par back on your vehicle like the bumper or rear mounted spare tire. Take this measurement on your vehicle and compare it to the carriers mentioned above to be sure the carrier will fold when empty and attached to your vehicle. I will list the measurements below for each carrier for you.
Draw-Tite Hitch Cargo Carrier, item # 6502, when folded up, distance measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier.
The etrailer.com carrier, item # e98874, when folded up, distance measures 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier.
