Hitch # 24773 uses a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. The diameter of the hitch ball itself would actually be dependent on which diameter your trailer coupler accepts.
Just based on the weight capacity of the # 24773, you will most likely need a hitch ball with a 1-7/8 inch diameter, like part # 19256.
To find out which ball diameter your trailer uses, I recommend looking on the trailer coupler, as the ball size should be stamped into the metal on top of the coupler.
If you do not already have a trailer and are maybe just planning to rent one, you should be able to rent a trailer to match either ball size, whether you choose to use a ball with a 1-7/8 inch diameter, or a 2 inch diameter ball like part # 19258.
