How to Pick Out a Curt Weight Distribution System for a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
Which system is recommended for use with my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 with integrated towing. My trailer is a Hawk 2-Horse 7000# GVW Horse Trailer with 700# max tongue and 2inch ball.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Based on what you listed as the max weights for your trailer the Curt System part # C17051 would be a great choice most likely as it has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs. You still would need to verify your tongue weight though.
To add friction sway control you would need the part # 17200.
