Troubleshooting No Voltage on Blue Wire After Being Connected to Trailer Brake Wires
Question:
Hello, I have current going right back to the axle but when the wire is hooked up to the brake wires all current disappears. Goes from 9ish volts down to 0 as soon as I touch the blue wire to the brake wiring. Could this be a ground? Ive checked and both grounds on either tire and they seem fine. Keep in mind the wiring is a nightmare in this trailer, I just bought it and lots of little surprises. 1978 Beachcomber. Thanks

I spoke with my technical contact at Tekonsha, and some brake controllers, like the Voyager, # 39510, will function exactly like you are describing. You'll want to connect the wires and have a helper use the manual override on your brake controller and then test the wire. The current should have reappeared.
If you still have no power, please send me an email with your brake controller information and we can go over additional troubleshooting steps.
