What Trailer Wiring Circuit Usually Powers Interior Lights

Question:

Is there suppose to be a hot wire on the truck plug that will be hot at all times? I have no prongs on my truck that are hot at all times so my trailer inside accessory lights dont work

Yes, the pin in the 2:00 position on the 7-way of your vehicle should have 12 volts all the time and would be the correct circuit to use for interior lights on your trailer. If the 7-way on the truck is a factory option chances are there is a blown relay or fuse under the hood that is associated with that circuit.

If the 7-way was aftermarket it could be just that the circuit was never completed. To do that you would need to run 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 from the pin to the positive terminal of your battery through a breaker like part # 9510.
