Are the lights on the trailer actually lighting up or just the circuit tester? If the trailer has LED lights then it is more likely that Curt harness # C56161 will cause them to dimly light up. Curt trailer wiring harnesses that are powered like this one sometimes have this issue. The converter is working properly but for some reason a little power bleeds through causing this exact issue.
The Tow Ready harness # 118438 does not have a history of this issue and would be the preferred wiring harness for your 2006 Honda Odyssey. You can keep using the Curt harness but you will need to unplug the trailer if you plan on parking the vehicle and trailer for extended periods of time.
