Is the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller a Good Choice for a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Duramax
Question:
I have 3 questions: 1. Am I correct in assuming the Prodigy P3 90195 is the right choice for my 2015 GMC Duramax? Towing a 14,000lb 5th wheel. 2. Will the wiring adapter 3016 work, or will we need to run wiring to the rear? 3. I need to be able to back up a fairly steep driveway. Will there be any problem with the inertial sensor applying braking if I kept my foot off the pedal?

The Tekonsha P3 brake controller # 90195 is an excellent choice for your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500. It is compatible with 2 to 8 brake assemblies (1 to 4 axles) and has numerous modes, settings, and clear troubleshooting displays that make it easy to use.
Your Sierra should have a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector so you will be able to use wiring harness # 3016 to plug in the brake controller. I have linked a video showing how it installs in a similar truck.
When stopped the brake controller will lightly apply the brakes for a while and then release them. the incline, whether you are pointed up or down, will not change how the controller operates. Worse case scenario is you will have to turn the power output down while backing up the incline if the controller is doing something you do not want it to do. But the controller does have a reverse mode.
When backing a trailer you can cancel “BOOST” and “HOLD” for a period of three minutes. This can be accomplished by pressing the boost button continuously for five seconds with the brake pedal depressed. After that 3 minutes it will revert to the previous settings.
