We have just what you are looking for. The trailer hitch I recommend for your X5 is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75600. This is a Class lll trailer hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. There is no drilling for installation but per the installation notes, the bumper must be temporarily removed and the fascia will need to be trimmed. Another technical note is that the included plastic push rivets included will not work on vehicles after 2010. You will need to obtain the rivets from your BMW dealer.
We have an estimated install time of 1-1/2 hours to install the hitch but it may vary based on the experience of the installer.
For a bike rack that can carry 4 bikes I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, part # HR1400Z. This rack can be used as a 2-bike rack or 4-bike rack. This carrier will accommodate bikes with a wheelbase up to 60 inches and a maximum tire width of 3 inches, and has a weight capacity of 50 lbs per bike. This bike carrier also features a lock that secures the carrier to your vehicle and a locks in the arms that secure the bikes to the carrier.
