Stop Light Switch Kit for a 2008 Chevy HHR SS
Question:
Hello I am installing the Even Brake from Roadmaster in my 2008 HHR SS I get near 5 volts from the brake switch when applied. The unit does not see the light switch when tested. Im thinking that the HHR SS does not provide enough voltage for the system to detect a signal. So Ill need this added switch running off 12 volt line to make things work? RM-751428 Another question. What fuse do you normally use in the HHR to provide power to the ICX transmitter. Thanks

When using supplemental braking like the Even Brake # RM-9400 on your 2008 Chevy HHR SS you will have to use the stop light switch kit # RM-751428 in order for everything to work properly and so that you know the vehicle brake pedal is actually moving.
A 12-volt outlet kit # RM-9332 is also recommended because the regular 12-volt outlet on the vehicle will either have no power or not enough power for the braking system when the vehicle is set up in the tow position.
There isn't a specific location to get power for the transmitter. Just select one with a socket that shows no power when the fuse is pulled. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the fuse sockets as needed.
Speaking of fuses it looks like one has to be pulled to flat tow your HHR. Consult the vehicle owners manual to confirm. To make this process as easy as flipping a switch you can use fuse bypass kit # RM76511. I have linked a video showing how it installs.
