Brake Controller Wiring Harness for a 2010 Ford F-150 and P3 Brake Controller

Question:

I plugged the prodigy three into the factory connector with the cable that came with the brake controller and the vehicle 2010 F150 would not operate. I did notice that the pin locations on the provided assembly was different from the cable provided with the vehicle so I spliced into the factory provided cable and the brake controller worked fine. Ergo: the cable provided with the brake controller seems to be incorrectly pinned. Should I ask for a replacement or can the cable be repinned? Thank

Helpful Expert Reply:

For a 2010 Ford F-150 and Tekonsha brake controller you should be using harness # 22292. The harness that comes with the brake controller is a generic one that is used for hardwiring applications.

The end of harness # 22292 that plugs into the truck should look like the picture I have included. If all of the wires on the harness you are using are on the same row then that is the harness for the Super Duty models and not the F-150.

The wires can be moved by releasing the locking tabs on the sides of the connectors and using any small, narrow, and flat tool to remove the wires/pins and then relocating them to match 22292.
