7-Way and Brake Controller Install Recommendation for a 2011 Ford F-350  

Question:

i have a 2011 f-350 today while hooking up a 7-pin trailer wire i realize that the turn signal wires and the maker lites use the same wire. am i right or wrong can i wire a brake controller hooked to the wiring harness under my dash like i installed on my 98 ram 1500

A 7-way for trailer wiring will have the blinker and stoplights on the same circuit. I attached a picture that has a diagram that shows all of the circuits that a 7-way has.

To install a brake controller like the part # 90885 in the truck you will need the correct install harness, part # 3034-P. If the vehicle had a 7-way from the factory that is all you would need to install the controller. If instead the vehicle had a factory 4-way you would need to then make a few connections under the vehicle to the 7-way you are installing. Check out the help article I attached for more info.
