Replacing 6.50-13ST Tires on 1981 Highlander Boat Trailer
Question:
Im looking for a tire and rim for my 1981 highlander boat trailer. The tire itself calls out 6.50 13ST, the studs 5 appear to be 4.5, however the whole appears as if its 2 and 3/4 inches wide. Every Rim I found on line seems to be 3 inches +. any suggestions

The closest modern equivalent tire size to the 6.50-13 would be 175/80-13. This tire size is recommended for use on a 13 x 4-1/2, 13 x 5 or 13 x 5-1/2 rim.
I've provided you with a diagram showing how to measure the width of a rim, the problem is, it's a difficult measurement to take unless the tire's removed from the wheel.
If your boat trailer has plenty of clearance to the inside of the wheels, I'd recommend going with a new wheel/tire combo. You'll want the combined load rating of the wheels/tires to equal or exceed the weight of the trailer plus the boat.
If you click the provided link, you can see the wheel/tire combos we have available in that size. I've linked you to some FAQ articles that you might find helpful.
