Making Adjustments to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer Level

Question:

My new truck is a 2013 Toyota Tundra with a 2 inch lift kit and my trailer tows nose high. Is this a problem? What can I do to tow level?

Some of the problems you might experience when your fifth wheel is towing high are increased trailer sway and limited ground clearance at the rear of the trailer, increasing the likelihood of your trailer bottoming out.

There are some adjustments you can make in order to tow level. You can try lowering your fifth wheel hitch at the hitch receiver. There are multiple height settings on your hitch, so if it is not already set on the lowest position, you can lower your hitch to level out your trailer.

You can also raise the pin box on your trailer. The bolts on the sides of the pin box where it attaches to the trailer can be removed, the pin box raised, and the bolts replaced. The pin box will be heavy, so this adjustment is best done with help.
