Thule Kayak Carrier Recommendation for Ocean Kayaks
Question:
I am looking at the TH830 Thule The Stacker but have 2 questions. I have a Clearwater Mist 8.6 kayak width 31 inches, and a Pelican Vortex 80X width 24.5 inches, and was wondering if the Clearwater would be too wide as the video mentions that it does not fit for Ocean Kayaks. Also, are the front and back tie downs a requirement or is it only for long trips?

Since you have ocean kayaks for a Thule kayak carrier you would be better off getting the Thule Hull-a-Port part # TH834 as opposed to the Stacker part # TH830 that you referenced since it is not designed for use with ocean kayaks or ones that are longer than 10 feet in length.
