Replacement Trailer Tire Options for a 7.00-15 Trailer Tire
Question:
Good Afternoon, I am looking to purchase a set of tires 2 for an old camper that I am restoring. It currently has 7.00 x 15 tires. I have been told that 205/75/15 tires are the correct replacement, but I have also heard that I should use 225/75/15. The rims are in good condition, and do not need to be replaced. The trailer weighs approximately 2900 lbs. Could you tell me which is the more appropriate size? Thanks!

The 7.00-15 tire has a diameter of 29.4 inches and a section width of 7.8 inches.
The closest modern size tire we have to those dimensions is the 225/75R15 like part # TTWTRTM2257515D. This tire has an overall diameter of 28.31 inches and a section width of 8.78 inches.
