Replacement 5.30-12 Trailer Tire Recommendation

Question:

Hello...I have a rebuilt jet ski trailer and currently use 5.30-12 tires with a load range D due to the ski weights. I have noticed that the tires on there that are only one year old have severe cracks in the sidewalls and not sure why. I am wondering if I can step up to a 13 inch tire and rim? I have a five lug pattern with a 4 -1/2inch spread. I seem to have roughly 2 inches or so of clearance on the fenders and about 2 inches on the frame. Any ideas?

Typically a trailer tire will last 6 to 8 years before it starts cracking. However, it is not uncommon that a tire distributor will have old stock that can be several years old so although you've only owned the tire for a year it could be several years older than that.

Because of your limited clearances I would not recommend going with a larger trailer tire/wheel since the minimum size difference if you were to go to a 13 inch rim would be 2 inches and the width increase would also be right at 2 inches.

I would recommend you go with the same size you currently have as a replacement. For that you would want the part # AM10068.
