Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup

Hello, Im looking to move in the next few months from STL, to Virginia. I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4 dr, 4x4.. Would this be a good hitch? I plan to use a 5foot x 8foot Cargo Trailer, to haul my stuff, which wont be a lot..

The Draw-Tite # 75662 Trailer Hitch will work perfectly on your 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup. This trailer hitch is rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 pounds and a max tongue weight of 600 pounds. This should be more than sufficient to tow the 5" x 8" trailer. However, if you ever plan on towing a heavier trailer, you will want to check your owner's manual for the maximum towing capacity of your vehicle.

Your truck should have come with factory trailer wiring already. If you don't have a trailer wiring connector, then you can use this Multi-Plug T-One Connector # 20135. This will connect to the square tow package connector behind the rear bumper. If your truck didn't come with any tow package wiring at all, then you can splice in a universal harness, such as # 119178KIT.

I also recommend this Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit comes with two ball mounts of different drops and rises, as well as two hitch balls with different ball diameters. A ball mount bag and hitch pin and clip are also included.
