Troubleshooting Trailer Lights that All Come On With Blinker Activation
Question:
I have a 1990 jayco popup. We are having problems with the lights. when we turn the vehicle lights on, only the back right light comes on. When we brake all of the running lights come on. When we turn on the signals, the hazard lights start blinking. We have tested all of the connections and they seem to be working fine. All of the ground wires have been cleaned and replaced. What could the problem be? Thanks.

The problem is in the wiring of the trailer. It sounds like the circuits are shorting out to each other before they reach the taillight assemblies and that's why when certain circuits are activated all lights come one and when a turn signal is activated all of the lights blink.
You will want to inspect the wiring from the connector all the way back to the light assemblies looking for any cut or exposed wire that could be causing the short and fix as necessary.
I attached a couple help articles for you to check out as well.
