Power Wire Gauge on Ultra Fab Powered Trailer Tongue Jack # UF38-944037 and # UF38-944017
Question:
I see the model with the 7 pin plug costs less than the regular model. Is the wire the same size on this as the regular model. I want to hook up to my travel trailer battery. Looks like I could save some money minus cost of fuse holder by cutting off the plug plus I would have a ground wire rather than using frame ground.

I checked with my Ultra-Fab representative, and found that the power wire on the # UF38-944037 is the same as that of the # UF38-944017. Both are 10 gauge.
Powering a jack off of a trailer mounted battery will work better than using the accessory circuit off the 7-way. The closer a powered accessory (like a tongue jack) is to it's power source, the better it'll operate, due to the fact that the longer the wire run is, the more power you'll lose along the way.
