Solution for Chucking with Slider Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I really like this hitch. I do have a problem with slack at the trailer pin. My pin is not worn but the slack is annoying and bangs. Is there an adjustment on the hitch to tighten the slide lock behind the pin to stop this? Thank you for your response.

Slider hitches have a lot of moving parts. It is nearly impossible to tow with a slider hitch and not get at least a little bit of noise or "chucking" as the slack from the moving parts moves around.

The only solution we have would be to go with a cushioned pin box to help soften the chucking.

In order to pick out the correct cushioned pin box for your fifth wheel trailer you will need to know which pin box model you have on your trailer. Most king pins will have the pinbox number listed on a sticker or it will be stamped on the king pin itself. If it's not there or worn out you will need to call the trailer manufacturer with the vin number of your trailer so they can provide you with that information.

Check out the FAQ article I attached on cushioned pin boxes that has a chart that shows which cushioned pin boxes will fit on all of the different pin boxes.
