Hitch for Carrying Bikes on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 w/ Factory Step Bumper
Question:
Is there a bolt on receiver hitch that will fit my 2001 Dodge Ram half ton PU with a factory step bumper? I just need it to carry bicycles. Thanks

There are several hitches that'll work for your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. If your just looking for an attachment point for your bike racks, a Class III hitch like the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75101 would work great for you.
If you were looking for something smaller, the Curt # E-3S might be a fit if you have bolt holes that line up and enough available space on the underside of your step bumper. I've provided a photo showing the dimensions of the bolt holes and of the hitch itself.
The Swagman Trailhead # S63380 bike rack you mentioned would be a good option. The rack is reasonably priced, yet it provides what I consider essential features like padded anti-sway cradles that use sturdy rubber straps to secure the bikes in place rather than flimsy hook and loop fasteners. The rack uses a threaded anti-rattle hitch pin to keep the rack immobile in the hitch, so it's not moving around. An optional hitch/cable lock combo is available as part # S64031.
