Brake Controller Recommendation and Installation for a 2007 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I purchased a new style 2500 silver ado and am going to pull a trailer. Some say it has built in trailer brake controller but I am not sure. There is no controller with brake gain settings. I dont want to pull my camper without brakes. I took it to an auto shop and they called chevy dealer, but Without the brake gain switch described in the manual I am not convinced.

You would have easily found the factory brake controller of your 2007 Chevy Silverado if it did indeed have one. You will want to install an aftermarket one. Which will end up giving you a much better brake controller than the factory one.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

The # 3015-P harness that is used to install a brake controller in your 2007 Chevy Silverado installs in the electric junction box that is under the dash of your vehicle. It's a black box to the left of the brake pedal.
