We haven't tested our hitches on the 2015 Subaru Legacy, but we have tested them on 2011 Legacy. The Class III hitch that I would recommend the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75673 has 10 inches of clearance from receiver to ground. This should provide plenty of clearance so you will not bottom out when towing.
Since you'll be using the hitch for towing purposes, you'll need to see your dealer for a wiring harness. You'll also need the following to complete your towing system:
Ball Mount, part # AMSC2
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19260
2 inch trailer ball, part # 63845
Locking hitch pin, part # e98882
To view an installation video for the hitch I recommended, click the provided link.
