Do Brake Pads on Both Sides of a Trailer Axle with Disc Brakes Need to Be Replaced at the Same Time
Question:
Here is a quick ?? On my tandem 3500 lb per axle, I have one brake pad that rusted off the clip and is obviously free to do whatever it wants. The actuation in hydraulic. My question is: Do I replace all brake pads on each axle, just on the affected axle or just the affected side of one axle? All other pads are over the min. dimension of 3/32. thanks

I would recommend you go with replacing the brake pads on the affected axle. Both sides of it, just like in a car how you do both sides at the same time.
We currently have two sets of Kodiak brake pads for 3,500 lb setups. Part # K225CP or # K225CPSS for ones with stainless steel backing plates. You might be better off with the stainless steel setup if your last set rusted off.
