Will Hold Downs # HSSF Fit a 1971 GMC C/K, Can they be Installed Without Removing the Camper
Question:
I have a 1971 GMC pickup and by reviewing your previous answers indicating that these will work with all full size trucks, I assume they will work for me. My question is, is it possible to install them with the camper already in the truck? Also what to you use to attache the camper to the bracket. I currently have tie downs but Im guessing they will be way too long.

The Camper Hold Downs, # HSSF, will fit your 1971 GMC C/K as long as you do not have a slide-in bed liner. The camper will have to be out of the truck for installation unless you have enough room between the camper and the sides of the bed in which to work. If this is the case, the camper might be too small for the truck and the Hold Downs might not work as they are designed to work with a camper that is a correct fit for your truck. The recommended hardware kit for the HSSF Hold Downs is Camper Tie Down Hardware Package, # TDHP.
You will need a fair amount of space to install them in the truck, which is why the camper should be out of the bed. The hold downs wrap around the truck bed rails and mount inside the bed. They do not mount in the stake pockets.
