The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2014 Grand Cherokee is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C13182.
Another item I recommend for towing is the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on a 2014 Grand Cherokee you can check out.
If the Jeep has a factory tow package I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # C55384. This plugs into the wiring on your Jeep with no cutting or splicing required and gives you a 4-way connector while retaining the 7-way connector on your Jeep.
If you do not have the factory tow package on your Grand Cherokee, the correct wiring kit you need is part # 118727. The installation instructions are attached. You may need to see Jeep dealer to have the trailer wiring functions activated.
