Recommended Trailer Hitch And Trailer Wiring For 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Looking for a suggestion or two - what would you recommend as a trailer bar that I can install on our 2015 Subaru Outback Ltd? I also would need a lighting/wiring kit. I will be pulling U-Haul open/closed trailers, on average every 3-4 months, less than 2000 lbs including the trailer. Trailers will be average 4x6, 5x8 ... hauling landscaping materials sod, stone, mulch, etc. - none in huge quantities - just work-around-the-yard stuff. Thanks!

If your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon is not the Sport edition I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75673. This is a Class lll trailer hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on an Outback you can check out.
Since you are planning on towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. This would give you the versatility you might need if you are towing different trailers.
For trailer wiring I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118467. This is a very simple installation by just plugging in the connectors in the rear cargo area. Take a look at the wiring installation video for this wiring harness I have attached. It shows step-by-step how to install the harness.
If you decide to use the trailer hitch for other accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers you can take a look at the attached links to see some of the products we offer that may work for you. If you have any specific questions about any of the items I will be glad to make some recommendations.
