Finding the Brake Light Switch Wire on a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 Van
Question:
I cannot seem to find the correct wire from the brake pedal the one I am connected to is white with a tan tracer however it is ground trip Normally closed any help ould be appreciated

The easiest way to determine the correct wire to connect the red stoplight switch wire from the brake controller to, is to use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993. Ground the alligator clip on the circuit tester and then probe the wires coming from the brake pedal switch until you find the wire that has twelve volts only when the brake pedal is pressed. This is the only sure way to tell that you have the circuit needed to activate the brake controller when the brake pedal is pressed.
The white wire with tan tracer that you mentioned is one of the wire colors that Chrysler has traditionally used but they have also used a blue wire with white tracer, and other wire colors through the years so testing is the best course of action.
