Choosing Between Thule, Yakima and Softride Hitch-Mount Bike Racks for 2014 Toyota Sienna
Question:
I need help regarding the ion of a bike rack for our 2014 Toyota Sienna. I purchased the Curt Class III hitch #13105 that you all offer, and have mounted it. On this application, the hitch sits back from the bumper, so the distance between the hitch pin and the mast is a pretty important factor in the rack decision. I have read all the reviews, watched the videos, reviewed the buyers guide, etc., and have narrowed down to the following choices that suite our needs: #SR26247, TH9031XT and Y02464. Along with the clearance, I am looking for bike/rack security, ease of use, and compatibility needs an adaptor or not for womens/childs bike. Any assistance in picking the best option would be appreciated! Thank you.

When we installed Curt Class III hitch # C13105 on the 2014 Toyota Sienna we found that the hitch pin hole was 4-1/2-inches from the rear-most part of the bumper. This means you'll want to choose a bike rack that offers at least 5-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole to ensure that you have no interference between the rack and the Sienna.
The Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 offers the best vehicle access since it swings completely out of the way of your rear hatch even when loaded with bikes. Because of this feature I recommend it. The Yakima includes a lock for the rack.
The need for an adapter bar will come down to the particular bikes you have and that is hard to predict. If needed just add an adapter bar like the cost-effective # UB01 from Kuat, or one of the other similar items shown on the included link.
