Why is there different ball shank lengths and what would be the best 1 7/8 for Item BM96 1.25 drawbar with 6 in . Thanks

There are different hitch ball shank lengths and diameters designed to fit different sized ball mounts. For the ball mount part # BM96 the recommended ball that has a 1-7/8 inch diameter would be the part # 19254 as it has a shank with the matching diameter and length needed.
