Expert Reply:
The 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 will have a tow package wire bundle held together with a white tag under the dash and to the left of the steering column.
The red tow package wire goes to the brake controller black wire for 12 volt power
The dark blue tow package wire goes to the brake controller blue wire for output to trailer brakes
The light blue or orange tow package wire goes to brake controller red wire for brake switch input
The white tow package wire goes to the brake controller white wire for ground
There may be some additional connections that will need to be made under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to a help article that explains this for you. If your truck does not have a 7-Way trailer connector you will also need # HM40975 to add one.
For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
