Carrying a Generator, Inflatable Boat, and Gear on a Reese 63153 Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier
Question:
I have a 2015 Explorer Sport. My plan is to carry a 15HP outboard @110lbs inflatable boat @100lbs and another 100lbs or so of gear. Appears to be well within range of the carrier - most of the driving will be freeway 70mph+. Any concerns?

Expert Reply:
Reese cargo carrier # 63153 is rated for 500 pounds so the carrier can handle the 310 pounds of gear you will be carrying. You also have to check the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and of the vehicle. Whichever is lower is the capacity you need to go by.
As far as highway speeds it would not be a problem since the carrier and things loaded on it are behind the vehicle which blocks the wind.
