Fit Kuat Trio Roof Mount Bike Rack and # TRP9 Phat 9 Fat Bike Adapter with Surly Moonlander
Question:
My query is about the Phat 9 Fat Bike Adapter Kit for Kuat Trio - 9 mm x 135 mm Forks. My bike is a 2014 Surly Moonlander the titanium sand-colored one and while I know its got the 135mm fork, Im not sure about the axle. Is this the adapter I need if I get the Kuat Trio carrier. Also, is there a roof carrier that will accommodate a fat bike straight out of the box? Thank you very much.

According to Surly, their Moonlander uses a 10mm axle. The Phat 9 Adapter kit you mentioned, part # TRP9 is the correct adapter kit for the Kuat # TR02 or # RU01 Trio roof mount bike racks.
We do indeed offer a roof mount bike rack that's compatible with Fat Bikes without needing an adapter. Take a look at the Rhino-Rack Hybrid, part # RRRBC050-FB. The rack holds the bike by the front wheel using a ratcheting hook and a wheel strap for both the front and rear wheels. No need to remove the front bike wheel. The rack will fit your roof crossbars as long as they're no wider than 3 inches.
