Installing Crossbars Across the Bed of 2015 Chevrolet Colorado with Tonneau Cover

Question:

Im interested in mounting Thule or Yakima tracks to the bed of my 2015 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck one my tonneau cover arrives. The racks would need to be mounted directly to the caps, with the crossbars spanning the width of the bed. Are the tracks able to be trimmed to fit? Meaning if I wanted to take an inch or two off the length so they fit between the stanchion holes, could I remove the caps, trim, and re-install caps? Also, regarding the mounting, how is it best to mount the tracks? I do not want to use plusnuts. Thanks

I don't see why you cannot install the tracks to the bed rail caps as long as it doesn't interfere with the tonneau cover. That may be your only option if you are getting a soft tonneau cover.

The Thule Roof Mounted Top Rack System # THTP54 can be trimmed and the endcaps are removable.

This system is designed to be used with Rapid Podium foot pack, part # TH460R, and fit kit, part # THKIT3101, and the the crossbars you'll need to use are the 79 inch ProBar Evos, part # TH713700.
