What Causes PL Error Code on Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller and How is it Fixed
Question:
Prodigy controller on a 2003 Dodge 2500 showing a PL on the brake controller and would like to know what it means and what I need to do to correct this. The battery was dead and needed to be charged prior to the code showing up. Thank you for your assistance,

The PL error code indicates a power interruption to the brake controller. It sounds like because of the power interruption caused by the dead battery, the brake controller needs to be reset.
With no trailer plugged in, unplug the controller from the vehicle for a minute or two, then plug it back in. This will reset the controller, which should then read NC (no trailer connected).
I've confirmed this with my contact in the Tech Services department at Tekonsha.
I've linked you to the owner's manual for the Prodigy P2, as well as to some FAQ articles you might find helpful.
