Recommended 4-Bike Hitch-Mounted Carrier And Adapter For Skis On 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350

Question:

Hi there, I am looking for suggestions for a 4 bike, swing, hitch mounted bike rack. I looked at both Thule and Yakima models but have heard that they have limited ability to mount kids bikes because of the top bar of the kids bikes not having enough room to accommodate the arms. Ideally, I would like a rack that would easily accommodate the 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes. Also, I would like a model that I could buy the ski adapter for as well, to use in the winter Thanks for your help.

The 4-bike swinging bike carrier I recommend for your 2014 ML350 Is the Yakima Full Swing, part # Y02465.

This bike rack swings away from the back of your ML350 and allows access to the rear cargo area even when it is loaded with bikes. This carrier features a cable lock that secures your bikes to the carrier and also a locking anti-rattle SpeedKnob that secures the bike carrier to the hitch. And you don't want to forget there is a built-in bottle opener that comes in handy.

To carry kids bikes or any bikes with alternative bike frames I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.

When you want to carry items like skis or snowboards I recommend the Yakima HitchSki Snowboard and Ski Carrier, part # Y02418. This attaches to the arms of the hitch-mounted carrier. The carrier holds up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards, features adjustable arms and protects your gear with rubber padding. This carrier also includes 2 locking cores that secures your gear to the carrier.

I have attached links to a couple product review videos you can check out.
